Pritzker Administration Announces Changes to Key Abortion Reporting in Illinois

Last week, the Pritzker administration announced they’ll be withholding key abortion-related information in future reports to the Illinois public.

Per a report by WBBM, the Illinois Department of Public Health is claiming that reasons of “safety and privacy” are cause for the change.

Specifically, data that will no longer be shared includes the specific number of abortions occurring in each county, as well as a breakdown of specific states from which women have traveled to receive abortions in Illinois.

This is a troubling shift in abortion reporting in light of Planned Parenthood of Illinois’ recent announcement that they’ve seen a 54% increase in abortion patients statewide.

Planned Parenthood of Illinois also reported that as many as 25% of abortions that have occurred in the state since Dobbs were performed on out-of-state women.
