ILLINOIS RIGHT TO LIFE RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT BIDEN’S EXECUTIVE ORDER ON TRAVEL FOR ABORTION

The following statement may be attributed to Amy Gehrke, Executive Director of Illinois Right to Life:

Today’s Executive Order on abortion signed by President Joe Biden is not only a cause for concern for our nation, but is especially cause for concern for us here in Illinois.

We already know that there are women coming to Illinois from surrounding states to obtain abortions. Not only has Governor Pritzker confirmed this multiple times, he is working to make that number grow. Today’s Executive Order will only aid Governor Pritzker in his quest to make Illinois the most pro-abortion state in the nation.

The women of Illinois and beyond don’t need more “help” obtaining abortions, they need resources that truly give them choices when facing unplanned pregnancies. They need practical resources such as diapers, food, health care, and counseling. We know that over 60 percent of women feel pressured into abortions they don’t really want. They need to know aid is available to help them choose life for their children.

Today’s Executive Order- the second that has been signed since Roe v. Wade was overturned on June 24 of this year – is cause to mourn that our president is doing everything he possibly can to degrade women by expanding access to abortion.
