ILLINOIS RIGHT TO LIFE ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
April 3, 2018 (CHICAGO) – Illinois Right to Life announced on Tuesday that the board has hired Joliet native Mary Kate Knorr to serve as executive director of the organization. Knorr will replace current executive director, Emily Troscinski, who is leaving her role to pursue full-time motherhood. Knorr brings numerous years of experience in political communications and state government, as well as a deeply-held passion for the protection of life, women’s health, and the defense of society’s most vulnerable members.
Prior to joining IRL, Knorr worked to elect numerous pro-life candidates to office, including former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, who successfully defunded Planned Parenthood at the state level in 2017. Knorr also served as an aide and communications advisor to former Iowa Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds, and as communications director to Tonia Khouri during her run for Congress in Illinois’ 11th Congressional District in 2016.
As executive director, Knorr will oversee IRL’s day-to-day operations and serve as a spokesperson for the organization. She officially entered the role on Monday, March 19.
The board extends heartfelt thanks and immense gratitude to Troscinski, who tirelessly served the organization and brought major growth under her leadership. At this time, Troscinski plans to remain on staff in a more flexible capacity.
“We are looking forward to the organization’s new era of leadership and expect a continued increase in the number of hearts won for Illinois’ pro-life movement,” President Rosemary Hackett said. “We are excited to add Mary Kate to the team and ready to build on our work as the state’s oldest pro-life organization.”
