Illinois Politicians Proceed With Abortion Bills Despite Public Outcry

Yesterday, we were told that Democratic leadership has decided to move forward with the abortion bills, despite the thousands of calls and emails that legislators have received in opposition to this legislation.

It is our understanding that a vote could be held on this legislation as soon as today – before they break for the holiday weekend.

This may be our last chance to have our voices heard. Offices open in Springfield at 8:30. If you’ve called before, please call again. If you haven’t called yet, today is the day.

To call Speaker Madigan and urge him to stop a vote on this legislation, call 217-782-5350.

When you call, be sure to identify the bills by name:

Parental Notice of Abortion Repeal

Late Term Abortion, No Restrictions Bill

Once you’ve made phone calls, please reach out to your pastor and church leaders and ask them to alert their members from the pulpit at services over the weekend.

Reach out to your family and friends and ask them to repeat this process in their own community.

And finally, get creative. As pro-lifers, we only use peaceful tactics. This moment calls for peacefully picketing our legislator’s in-district offices and any other creative ways that we can draw attention to their total defiance of the public’s wishes.

It’s now or never. Let’s get to work.
