Friends,
You may have heard that, back in June, we filed a lawsuit in federal court to challenge Gov. Pritzker’s 50-person gathering limit, in the hopes that we might begin holding the important large events that are pivotal to our mission. On Monday of this week, we received the disappointing news that the judge presiding over our case ruled in favor of the Pritzker administration.
As a result, we will NOT be holding our event featuring Sarah Huckabee Sanders next Thursday, July 23rd, as we had previously planned.
As our friends and supporters, you know how important it is that we continue to do the critical work of educating people across the state on the value and sanctity of human life. We are frustrated by our current reality, in which a new Planned Parenthood clinic can open for business and Gov. Pritzker can defy his own orders by marching in protests with thousands of others, but organizations like ours are barred from holding the important events that allow us to continue to pursue our work.
However – while we are frustrated, we want to do this right. It was in this pursuit of righteousness that we chose to file this lawsuit, and it is in this same pursuit that we choose now to abide by the ruling and continue adhering to the current executive orders, as we have since the start of this pandemic.
If you have purchased tickets or sponsorships, you will be personally hearing from us very soon. Our board is working hard to determine how to move forward. It is of the utmost importance to us to honor you and the great generosity you show us each year. We humbly ask for your patience in this time!
We cannot thank you deeply enough for your support, your generosity, and for standing by us in our mission. Without your friendship, we could not continue to fight for women and children in our state.
You will be hearing from us very soon.
In mercy,
Mary Kate Knorr
