Emily Troscinski is the executive director of Illinois Right to Life. Emily brings a wide variety of experience in non-profit management, public relations, and new media as well as experience in political campaigning. Emily earned a Bachelor of Arts in both Business and Communications from Lake Forest College. She currently resides in Chicago.
Emily’s passion for the pro-life movement began in her high school history class when learning about Nazi Germany and the story of Anne Frank. Emily asked her parents if they would have put their lives at risk to help hide the Jewish people during the gruesome Holocaust. You must always stand up for the truth no matter the cost, they said. Shortly thereafter, when Emily was participating in Indiana Right to Life’s writing contest, she couldn’t erase that conversation from her heart. While researching for her paper, Emily discovered the horror of abortion mirrored the horror of the Jewish Holocaust. That’s when she knew she was called to give her life to the pro-life movement.
Prior to Illinois Right to Life, Emily worked at the Thomas More Society, a national non-profit public interest law firm that focuses on restoring respect in law for human life. Her position found managing approximately 80% of the firm’s lawsuits working with a multitude of pro-life organizations, including 40 Days for Life National, Live Action, Pro-Life Action League, Students for Life of America, pregnancy help centers, Catholic Charities, Catholic Clergy, and many others. Emily assisted in lawsuits against the HHS Abortion Mandate in three different states and counseled numerous young girls facing forced abortion situations. Emily also supported Society attorneys counseling clients in emergency end of life situations to prevent any disrespect for God’s gift of life.
Emily also managed the firm’s internal and external marketing and public relations. Emily rebranded all aspects of the firm’s image and also redesigned and copy wrote the firm’s entire marketing efforts. Emily’s public relations work in conjunction with TC Public Relations has landed the firm with major stories on the Drudge Report, FoxNews, CNN, Laura Ingram, Megyn Kelly, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, Chicago-Sun Times, and many others.
In 2013, Emily assisted the U.S. Committee on Ways and Means with their investigation into the Internal Revenue Service’s harassment of conservative organizations. Her efforts helped expose and put a stop to a pattern of unconstitutional targeting and harassment of pro-life organizations by the IRS. A copy of her work can be found in the U.S. Congressional Record.
Emily’s passion for life and fearless pursuit of the truth lead her to be named the 2014 – 2015 chairman of the March for Life of Chicago. Emily leads a board that focuses on uniting those of different faiths and social backgrounds through their love for life to further Illinois’ grassroots network and pride for the pro-life cause.
Emily believes education is what will ultimately bring Illinois’s love and respect for life back again. She truly believes that when people fully understand the horrors of abortion, euthanasia and other practices that destroy life, their hearts will no longer support it under any circumstance. Emily employes fresh, new ways to talk about the value of life, science, and the authentic dignity of women and men.
